I was well into adulthood and a homeowner before I realized that just as styles change in the fashion industry, so do they evolve in home furnishings. Our choices for wall paint color, upholstery fabric, flooring, and, importantly, furniture design are also subject to trends and modification. With this realization, I began to study in earnest the resources at hand. One of my favorites was Colonial Homes (now sadly only a memory). Consequently, my home—far from the eastern shores where these design influences are most common—became my canvas for period antiques and colors that replicate those in the historic buildings of Colonial Williamsburg.
