happy anniversary, meghan & harry!

It was one of the most magical moments of 2018, when a grinning Prince Harry said, ‘I do’ to his bride, and broke all royal rules by wedding former American actress, Meghan Markle. Since then, the couple have travelled Down Under for the Invictus Games, set up their new home at Frogmore Cottage, Windsor, and welcomed their firstborn son, Archie, into the world. As the Duke and Duchess of Sussex celebrated their first wedding anniversary on May 19, the royal couple sent out a heartfelt message to their fans on their Instagram account, @sussexroyal, so they too could reminisce about last May’s wedding of the year. “Their Royal Highnesses exchanged vows at St George’s Chapel within the grounds of Windsor Castle on May 19th, 2018,” the message…

And like every star-studded event, there was sure to be some gossip and drama along the way. In addition to Mariah Carey’s glam and hair touch-up during her 30-minute performance on May 17, rock icon Elton John called out critics of his new film, Rocketman, in which actor Taron Egerton portrays John in a biopic about the flamboyant singer’s life. However, some have criticised Egerton being cast to play a gay man, although he is straight. In response, John told…

pro-choice power

ON MAY 15, ALABAMA BECAME the latest US state to move to restrict access to abortions by passing a bill to outlaw the procedure in almost all cases. The change – made by 25 male senators – only allows abortion when the mother’s life is at serious risk, and in instances of rape and incest, the procedure would be banned. In Australia, abortion laws differ in each state and territory and abortion is still illegal in parts of Australia. In NSW, for instance, women are not entitled to an abortion on demand, and it is only lawful if a doctor believes it is necessary to avoid danger to the woman’s mental or physical health. In the US, the Alabama ruling has united some of Hollywood’s biggest names to share…
