She released Reputation only on Nov. 10, but the dissection of Taylor Swift’s new song titles and lyrics began immediately, as fans and the curious search for allusions to the men of her past. With things moving along so nicely with current beau Joe Alwyn (see p. 26), it’s a pretty safe bet “Gorgeous” might have been inspired by the British actor with “ocean blue eyes.” And it’s not like potential boyfriends don’t know what’s coming. Back in 2010, she told David Letterman, “This is the third album that I’ve been doing this, so they had fair warning.”…

THERE WERE FLAMES ON STAGE, glitter showers, video walls, LED light displays and one giant, flying animatronic bird at the MTV European Music Awards, held at the SSE Arena in London on Nov. 12. Adding to the visual spectacle were host Rita Ora’s colourful outfits featuring wigs of every hue, and bold fashion statements from many of the guests—including Jared Leto’s hot pink, red and mauve ensemble and Kesha’s holographic cape. There was no disappointment on the musical side, either, with standout diva performances from Demi Lovato, Camila Cabello and Ora herself. Winning the night’s big award of Best Artist, Shawn Mendes, there with his gran, beat out Ariana Grande, Kendrick Lamar, Ed Sheeran, Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift. “The artists in this category are people I’ve looked up to my…

beyonce meet the twins!

IN MIAMI FOR A JAY-Z CONCERT, SUPPORTING his new album 4:44, the Knowles-Carter troop enjoyed a day of family time on Nov. 10, providing the world with a rare peek at 5-month-old twins Rumi and Sir as they hung out with mum Beyoncé, dad Jay-Z, grandma Tina Knowles Lawson and sister Blue Ivy, 5. It’s not the first time the babies have been seen since their June 13 birth. Beyoncé, 36, posted a dramatic shot of the then 1-month-olds back in July, prompting singer Zendaya’s reponse: “Breathtaking.” As for their unusual names, “Rumi is our favourite poet, so it was for our daughter,” Jay-Z said. “Sir was like, man, come out the gate. He carries himself like that. He just came out, like, Sir,” the rapper told a podcast. Although 4:44…

ewan mcgregor out of hiding

EWAN McGREGOR HAS GONE PUBLIC WITH his new romance. The actor, who split from wife Eve Mavrakis in May, was photographed in Los Angeles on Nov. 8 with his Fargo co-star, actress Mary Elizabeth Winstead. Hand-in-hand in Hollywood, the pair were dressed for motorcycle ride-sharing. The couple were first spotted kissing in London’s Good Life Eatery on Oct. 22, leading to confirmation that McGregor, 46, and French-born production designer Mavrakis, 51, have lived apart since May. In the same month Winstead, 32, split from her husband, director and writer Riley Stearns, 31. For McGregor and Mavrakis, “it all changed over the summer. It was very abrupt,” a source told The Sun. “He came back from Fargo and it was clear he and Mary had become close.”?…

louis c.k. ‘the stories are true’

WITHIN HOURS OF THE NOV. 9 cancellation of the screening of Louis C.K.’s film, I Love You, Daddy, The New York Times published a bombshell article in which five women accused the comedian, 50, of sexual misconduct. A statement from the star in which he said, “These stories are true,” soon followed. The accusations date back to the late ’90s, when an anonymous woman says he masturbated as she sat with him in his office while working on The Chris Rock Show together. In a separate incident, Chicago comedy duo Julia Wolov and Dana Min Goodman claimed C.K. removed his clothes and masturbated in front of them after they went back to his hotel room to celebrate the women’s 2002 performance at the US Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen. Writer…

JENNIFER LAWRENCE AND Angelina Jolie know how to pull focus, but at The Governors Awards in Los Angeles on Nov. 11 they furthered their skills. When Emma Stone posed for photographers, Lawrence sneaked up to photobomb her red-carpet moment. After Jolie presented director Agnès Varda with an honorary Oscar, they shared a spontaneous groove on stage when Varda said she felt like dancing. Later, Jolie chatted to Jake Gyllenhaal, Lawrence hung out with boyfriend Darren Aronofsky, and Emma Stone caught up with her ex Andrew Garfield. The event, hosted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, honours industry stalwarts. “I don’t deserve this,” said recipient Donald Sutherland. “But I have arthritis, and I don’t deserve that either.”…
