royal rule-breaker

Meghan Markle has been on a roller-coaster ride since her royal romance with Prince Harry was confirmed. At first there were trolls, to which Harry responded with a scathing “back off” statement. Then there was overwhelming support for the Duchess-to-be when her estranged family began coming out of the woodwork to air her dirty lingerie. The world was wowed last year when she floated gracefully down the aisle on the arm of Prince Charles and to her besotted Prince Harry. It wasn’t long though before Meghan was plagued by rumours of being tough to work with, even “difficult”. Then there were the whispers of a rivalry with her royal sister-in-law Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, a story that just wouldn’t go away and continues to play out with news Meghan…

HOLLYWOOD’S AWARD season festivities continued on Jan. 14 with the Critics’ Choice Awards taking place at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California. Notably, Lady Gaga, 32, took home the first award of the night for best song for her collaboration “Shallow” from A Star is Born. She also had a tie for Best Actress in a Motion Picture with Glenn Close, who won for The Wife. But it wasn’t the only category with a double win. family getaway

AFTER A SOAKING UP THE SUN AND splashing around in the Caribbean waters of St Barts for over a week, Pippa Middleton’s luxurious getaway has finally come to an end. The new mother was seen cradling her 3-month-old baby, Arthur, as she headed to the airport with her husband, James Matthews. The Duchess of Cambridge’s younger sister, 35, looked relaxed and still very much in holiday mode after the family getaway that included both the Middleton and Matthews clans. She kept it casual as she departed the tropical island, recycling a pale blue shirt dress with printed motifs by Maje that she wore on her honeymoon, while James, 43, opted for a navy shirt and tan shorts. The tot was well-behaved, sleeping peacefully in his mother’s arms. The holiday is the first overseas…

loses her best friend

JUST LIKE QUEEN ELIZABETH II, Princess Beatrice is an avid dog lover, with her father, Prince Andrew, and mother, Sarah Ferguson, sharing their home with four of the family’s terriers: Jack, Cici, Teddy and Ginger. A friend of the princess revealed to The Sun that Beatrice’s own Norfolk Terrier, Orange, had to be put down in December after becoming ill. The 5-year-old pup is believed to have ingested a poison during a walk in Windsor Great Park. He was rushed for treatment but when vets couldn’t identify the poison and administer an antidote, Beatrice made the decision to have Orange put down. “No-one seems to know if the poison was a natural substance, like a fungi, or if there is a dog-hating maniac on the loose,” the friend told the publication. “Obviously,…

damning allegations

THE WALLS APPEAR TO BE CLOSING in on singer R. Kelly following the release of a shocking documentary in which several women have accused him of sexual abuse. In the six-part documentary, Surviving R. Kelly, which premiered in the US on Jan. 3, Kelly is accused of sexual abuse, impregnating women and forcing women to participate in threesomes. The music industry has now turned on the singer, with Lady Gaga taking to Twitter to apologise for collaborating with Kelly on the 2013 single “Do What U Want”. “I intend to remove this song off of iTunes and other streaming platforms and will not be working with him again,” she said. “I’m sorry, both for my poor judgment when I was young, and for not speaking out sooner. I love you.” Kelly has…
