welcome

I’ve never been a big drinker, but I’ve found myself reaching for a glass of wine more often than not in the evening over the past 12 months. From virtual drinks with family and friends to the cheeky after-work Aperol Spritz, it’s easy to go a full week without any alcohol-free days (or“AFDs” as WHO’s Associate Editor Mel coined them). While I don’t think I could be a teetotaller (I enjoy a glass of red with a good meal far too much – go to page 73 for our top picks), I’ve found myself becoming“sober curious” – and I’m not alone. It’s one of the biggest wellness trends this year and there’s no denying the benefits of limiting our alcohol intake. If you’re thinking of joining me and adding more AFDs…

australia’s wild weather

First came the fires, then a worldwide pandemic, now Australia is battling through yet another disastrous event – after wild weather lashed a long swathe of the east coast and put 10 million Aussies under severe weather warnings. Torrential rain sparked large-scale flooding all the way from the Sunshine Coast in Queensland down to the Illawarra region in New South Wales, displacing thousands of residents and disrupting utilities and businesses. While meteorologists warned of the “once-in-a-lifetime” weather event, it did little to prepare residents – particularly those on NSW’s Mid North Coast and Sydney’s northwestern and far western suburbs – for the devastation that lay ahead. “These are very, very serious storms and floods,” Prime Minister Scott Morrison said of the deluge. After five days of unabated rain, 18,000 people have been…

justin & hailey island escape

Walking along the dreamy white sand on a beach in Turks and Caicos, Justin and Hailey Bieber looked as loved up as ever. Having escaped the pandemic-plagued US mainland, the couple were all smiles and laughs as they took a stroll in between sunbathing and dips in the water on March 19 – all while showing off their equally toned physiques in a multicoloured bikini and navy swimming trunks. But despite their trip to the island location appearing picture perfect, Hailey, 24, recently insisted their relationship is far from a fairytale. Speaking to Elle magazine, the model opened up about their 2018 union, admitting they were both “insanely young” when they tied the knot. “I mean, I was married when I was 21, two months before I turned 22,” she shared.…

The singer, 36, showed off her gold wedding band while popping into a coffee shop on the island with her new hubby on March 16. And an insider close to the couple revealed to US OK! magazine that Perry has never been happier than now with her 44-year-old British beau. “He lets Katy just be herself”- SOURCE “There have been some very low moments, and Katy’s had to kiss a lot of frogs before she found her prince,” the source explains. “But she has no regrets because it all led her to where she…

apart already?

The honeymoon may be over for the hardworking newlyweds sooner rather than later. On March 19, Billboard reported that Perry is set to take up a residency at the new Resorts World casino in Las Vegas. Following in the footsteps of Céline Dion, Jennifer Lopez and Britney Spears, Perry is rumoured to be starting her busy gig later in the year, which will run through into 2022. Juggling family and fame has always been on the cards for Perry, who returned to work as a judge on American Idol when her daughter was just weeks old. “She’ll always be the No. 1 most important thing ever, naturally. But I love being a working mum,” she said during an interview with Jimmy Kimmel. “I don’t think there’s anything negative about it.” MEGA (2); SPLASH (1);…
