And just like that, we are onto our second issue of Adventure Afrika. Our first issue was welcomed with open arms, selling out within days in some areas*. Thank you to each and every person supporting this dream of ours! So, how do you sustain the excitement of a launch edition? Quite easy, actually – find even better stories to tell, more epic adventures to talk about and make sure you continue to give your readers the platform to pop in and chat! The English explorer, William Burchell, once said the only man he envies is the man who has not travelled to Africa. I could not agree more! Having not been into Africa enough, I am excited to explore it even more during our adventures and overland expeditions being planned for…

Name: Anton Willemse, Publisher Social: @willemseanton Favourite accessory: I simply love my SmartCap canopy (from RSi) as it comes with a decently equipped kitchen which keeps the missus happy… Happy wife, happy life and all! Bucket list destination: I would love to travel to Tanzania for the world-renowned wildebeest migration. Top travel tip: Be sure to fit a camping fridge – that way, your beer is always cold when you arrive at your destination. On a serious note, always fill up on as much fuel as possible while travelling in Africa (including jerry cans) as you never know when you will find a fuel station again!) Veralda Schmidt Go-to Recipe: I think my love language is baking and as such my favourite dish to make is, in fact, a cake. Whenever I want to thank someone or cheer someone up, I bake a chiffon cake. It is sentimental to me as my gran used to bake this cake all the time. Although it looks super impressive, it is actually quite easy to make. In terms of food, I like to cook with fresh ingredients so my go-to dish is very much dependent on what is in season. Key is to cook with fewer but high-quality ingredients. Top tip for entertaining: Prepare as much as you can ahead of time – no one wants to see you all sweaty and stressed in the kitchen when they come to visit…

new prado offering from toyota

The popular Toyota Prado now finally offers the long awaited improved powerplant, with the revised range offering an additional 20kW of power and 50Nm of torque. This power boost is derived from the switch to the new-generation 2.8-litre GD-6 turbo diesel engine. The engine is now mated exclusively to a six-speed automatic transmission. Prado’s overlanding and towing credentials benefits from the higher-performance engine that now delivers a maximum of 150kW@3400rpm and 500Nm over a wider 1600-2800rpm band. The latest generation 2.8 GD-6 engine (as debuted in the updated Hilux) has received a raft of upgrades including a new ball-bearing turbocharger with a larger turbine and impeller, and improved engine rigidity and cooling. Better fuel economy is realised through optimised pistons and piston rings, changes to the cylinder block and head, a…
