What’s your bed-making style? This is a question that can be quite divisive in the world of interiors. To flat-sheet or not to flat-sheet? Feather quilt, poly-fill or blankets? How many cushions are too many? And we haven’t even touched on bedlinen designs. What’s wonderful is that such a small part of the home can allow for so much creativity and customisation. My personal preference is a feather-filled quilt and all-white bedlinen. Though I do love a statement bedhead. ANNA SPIRO on life, interiors and what she’s loving this month In an ideal world, I’d have a bathroom with two baths, an armchair, a fireplace, a large armoire, a shower room, a steam room and a sauna. Wouldn’t that be dreamy! I love a bathroom that makes you feel like any other room in your home. Why do they have to be clinical, plain, uninteresting spaces? A large double-pedestal basin and freestanding furniture pieces for storage as well as art on the walls and minimal cabinetry is always my goal. That sort of room sparks a feeling of cosiness, is an extension of the rest of your home and is less clinical. Touchy-feely Bedrooms are the perfect spaces to play with tactile materials. Here, grasscloth wallpaper anchors the scheme and is layered with a bouclé bedhead, smooth cotton bedlinen and a velvet bolster cushion. The chic marble vase and ceramic lamp add yet another dimension. Pattern play To mix and match patterns successfully, play with scale, as we’ve done here, combining large patterns with tiny prints in the bedlinen and bedhead.
