HELLO SPRING! It’s time to fling open the doors and windows. Spring is well and truly here! And I intend to make the most of the warmer weather and let the outdoors in – especially as we continue to work from home. There are a few things I like to do at home to mark the arrival of a new season. This time of year, I swap my cotton bedsheets for linen, put the woolly throws and cushions away, and out in the garden I love pottering around with some secateurs to snip back the stems of winter and encourage new growth. Speaking of gardening, this issue we’ve created the ultimate garden guide full of expert advice, great buys and inspiration, starting on page 148. Whether you want some new outdoor furniture…

HOMEBEAUTIFULMAG @HOMEBEAUTIFUL HOMEBEAUTIFUL.COM.AU PINTEREST.COM/HOMEBEAUTIFUL HOMEBEAUTIFUL@BAUER-MEDIA.COM.AU THE DAILY HOME EDIT MEET THE HB TEAM HARRIET SIM, JUNIOR WRITER What’s your most memorable HB moment? Harriet: “When I sat down for my first HB production meeting last year, and listened as the team debated the difference between Montauk and Hamptons style, I felt completely out of my depth. I knew nothing about renos, interior styling or the latest Pantone, but when my first big feature landed on the shelves, I knew I’d become a part of something special… and that I’d never walk into a room again without noticing the kitchen finishes or recognising a trending throw!” What’s been your favourite HB story to work on? “This month’s outdoor special (from page 148) was a dream to bring to life and will hopefully ignite the inner green thumb in even the most horticulturally…

Simple elegance Contemporary, natural and calm: this is what Janine wanted her home to be, and after engaging Penny del Castillo of In Design International to work on her new home’s interior, she achieved just that. The entryway features timber stairs with a slimline brass handrail plus drop pendants by Christopher Boots to set a chic, refined mood. A PLACE OF CALM Janine’s favourite space is her yoga room-slash-office. “The feeling I was going for was serenity, so the colours are quite light,” she says. Behind her Globe West desk and Vivora sitting ball, pale-hued Dekton in Nilium sits atop bespoke timber veneer cupboards. The painting of Janine, a gift from husband Jeff, is of a photo taken at the end of a yoga retreat and reminds her to return to the mat.…
