look sharp

Bendigo-based Keech Australia has released the Keesharp, an innovative new bucket tooth for the mining, construction and earthmoving sectors that actually gets sharper with each use. The self-sharpening tooth has been designed to boost productivity and reduce costs. Keech Australia says it has a longer life than anything previously seen on the market. Available for machine sizes from 20 to 350 tonnes, the Keesharp tooth has been rigorously tested to meet Keech’s quality standards and has been validated to match the breakout forces of the machines it’s designed for. The tooth has a unique design that leaves sharper edges as it is worn down over time. “Because the tooth is so strong and because it gets sharper over time, Keesharp improves bucket penetration in even the most challenging conditions.” Keech Australia marketing manager…

Enerpac has released the Porta Power set, a portable hydraulic power kit designed for maintenance jobs across a wide range of industries including construction, mining, metalworking and manufacturing. Designed as a portable power solution for maintenance jobs requiring hydraulic power, the set contains a hydraulic cylinder (ranging from 10-45 tonnes, depending on type), a P392 hand pump, pressure gauge and a 1.8m hose all housed within a durable plastic case. “Porta Power sets are great for maintenance jobs that can frequently be done far more safely and quickly with portable hydraulic power,” Enerpac national sales manager Darryl Lange says. The cylinder included with the kit can be any one of three Enerpac cylinder types: general purpose, low height or Flat-Jac. Which cylinder you need will be determined by the requirements of the job…

face value

Caterpillar is aiming to deliver a productivity boost to the mining, quarry and heavy construction industries with its new 6015B face shovel which is designed to move more material at a lower cost than any other in its class. Building on the standards set by the 5110B, the 140-tonne Cat 6015B hydraulic shovel has an 8.1-cubic-metre bucket with a payload of 14.5 tonnes as standard. Currently only available in a backhoe configuration, the 6015B shovel is capable of a dig depth of over 7 metres and has a reach of over 13 metres. The shovel is powered by a single Tier 4 Final-compliant Cat C27 ACERT engine pushing out 813 horsepower (606kW). This increased engine power and the bucket size mean more digging cycles, more often, Cat says. Along with the increase in power,…

new era for liugong

The driveline improvements and reinforcement increases the average lifecycle of the machine by 250 percent. The new LiuGong 856H wheel loader has been released in Australia through a new partnership with local distributor AWD Group. Boasting improvements in every area, AWD and LiuGong say the new model will bring in a new era of productivity and serviceability. With over 15 years of local experience, AWD Group has set its sights on becoming one of Australia’s leading providers of capital equipment. The new partnership with LiuGong will expand that footprint. “We are very excited about this opportunity to bring world class products to Australia,” AWD Group chairman Paul Jenkins says. “We see this as an opportunity for the existing LiuGong customer base in Australia to receive increased parts and service support in the eastern…

prime position

Komatsu Australia has placed its new INSITE Fleet Management Centre in a prominent position at its Fairfield, NSW, headquarters to highlight the importance it places on customer relations, the company says. The recently revealed INSITE centre uses 10 constantly updated monitors to display the data of all key machine, production, fleet and industry parameters – including its KOMTRAX remote monitoring offerings – across all operating Komatsu machines in Australia, New Zealand and New Caledonia. In addition, the centre displays the ‘big picture’ with ga variety of lobal and economy-wide data (such as stocks and share prices, commodity prices and production trends) and utilisation levels across industry sectors (for example, coal mining or iron ore). Komatsu head of fleet management & ICT Todd Connolly says the decision to locate the INSITE centre prominently within…

ring of steel

Balkrishna Industries (BKT) will use the Bauma 2016 international trade show in April to debut display its new all-steel radial Earthmax SR 31 tyre engineered for loaders, dozers and articulated dumpers. The Indian off-highway tyre giant — whose research and development team designs, develops and produces 60-80 new tyre types every year — says the all-steel radial Earthmax SR 31 provides a high level of strength and stability due to its multi-ply steel belt design. Cut- and heat-resistant tread compounds featured on the Earthmax SR 31 ensure a long product life-cycle, BKT says, while the multi-layer steel belts, along with the non-directional rigid block pattern, stand for excellent traction and manoeuvrability. Earthmoving equipment will also benefit from the tire’s radial casing structure, which BKT says will reduce rolling resistance, improve fuel economy and…
