Egg shortages hit US, UK and New Zealand
In many parts of the world, eggs remain the most affordable source of protein for consumers. This is certainly true for a country like South Africa, where the vast majority of people live on very little income and cannot afford to buy red or even white meat. The same can be said for developed nations like the US and UK. Eggs in the US, for example, are suddenly in short supply, which means that prices have skyrocketed over the past few weeks.
