the best chardonnay for summer

La Motte Chardonnay is made exclusively from grapes grown on the estate and true to the Franschhoek Valley’s reputation for exceptional quality Chardonnay, the newly released 2019 La Motte Chardonnay was recognised by the Cathay Pacific Hong Kong International Wine & Spirit Competition as Best Chardonnay! While consistency in style is an important focus for La Motte Cellarmaster Edmund Terblanche, the season’s favourable growing conditions combined with the Franschhoek terroir and sandstone and granite derived sandy soils, resulted in an extraordinary 2019 Chardonnay. meet lungani ntuli, head chef at glenwood’s gourmet sushi restaurant

The new sushi offering at Glenwood is making waves in the Franschhoek Valley and visitors will be astounded to learn that the man behind the hype does not hail from the East but instead, Lungani Ntuli grew up in KZN before relocating to Johannesburg in 2001 where his exciting sushi journey began. It is in Johannesburg that Lungani met and worked closely with Arata Koga, one of the first chefs to bring sushi to South Africa. The team came down to Cape Town and proceeded to establish three sushi restaurants: Genki, Tank and Izakaya Matsuri. Lungani’s talent is the product of 16 years of mentorship by Arata and is justifiably proud of the skills he has developed, closely guarding his intellectual property! He is passionate about both authenticity of flavours and…

As can be expected, Diemersfontein’s award-winning wines remain very much part of the mix and in fact, are even more so at PROE. “PROE means ‘taste’ in Afrikaans and as such, reflects not only local cultural flair, but also the all-round epicurean offering that awaits visitors.” The produce available at PROE is sourced locally and showcases many of the…
