threads of synergy

In a world where disembodied virtual experiences have become the order of the day, Threads of Synergy – a new exhibition of South African tapestry art in the La Motte Museum pays homage to the artisans’ presence in the making. This exhibition of largescale tapestries calls for a tactile encounter, regaining sensitivity towards surfaces and reawakening our sense of touch. As an authentic South African art experience, Threads of Synergy presents a selection of tapestries woven by the Stephens Tapestry Studio and includes South African artists Robert Hodgins, William Kentridge, Sam Nhlengethwa, Cecily Sash and Cecil Skotnes. By extending traditional boundaries between art and craft, tapestry reveals the very essence of creative collaboration between artists, designers and weavers. Threads of Synergy in the La Motte Museum adds another sensory experience to…

haute cabrière’s pierre jourdan – celebrates 50 years of south african vintages in 2021

Cap Classique Haute Cabrière is proud to be a chapter in this story. Haute Cabrière, a family-owned winery in Franschhoek, has been creating quality wines with the classic Burgundian and Champagne varietals of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir since the 1980s. The traditional method of bottle fermented sparkling wine, known in the French province of Champagne as Méthode Champenoise and in South Africa as Méthode Cap Classique, is part of the von Arnim family’s DNA. In 1986, Achim von Arnim, Haute Cabrière’s founding Cellar Master, was the first to create and release a South African Cap Classique exclusively from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir – no surprise at all given his passion for pioneering unique blends. This year, 2021, South Africa celebrates 50 years of creating Cap Classique wines, and Haute Cabrière is…

steenberg celebrates 50 years of cap classique

Widely recognised as one of South Africa’s finest Rosé bubblies, Steenberg 1682 Pinot Noir Cap Classique strikes an elegant pose with its blushing hue and beguiling scents of raspberry jelly, wild strawberry sorbet, red apple skin and toasted brioche. Its ultra-fine mousse lifts the raspberry-like aromas and the creamy texture, in perfect balance with bright acidity, lingers long after the last sip. Steenberg 1682 Chardonnay Cap Classique is a richly layered Blanc de Blancs that matures for up to 18 months on the lees to reach its full potential. The result is an alluring Cap Classique with Granny Smith apple, candied lemon rind and white peach wafting from your flute. The palate is lively with zesty acidity layered with lemon cordial, honeyed nectarines, toasted croissant and pistachio. Perfected by time in the…
