Harper's Bazaar India

Harper's Bazaar India July - August 2019

Harper’s Bazaar is the oldest, continuously published fashion magazine in the world; Harper’s Bazaar has been the bastion of fabulous fashion for more than 142 years. As the 29th international edition, Harper’s Bazaar India matches the exacting standards that its cousins have set around the world in the areas of fashion, editorial content, and photographic superiority. Harper’s Bazaar India is a magazine that celebrates the best in luxury, design and style. It’s where fashion gets personal. While it’s a fashion magazine, and the emphasis is on fashion, it is also a champion of personal style. Harper’s Bazaar understands that women want to know the latest news and fashion trends, yet encourages a very personal expression of that style. It believes women are fabulous at every age, and is committed to celebrating that in every issue.

i am women

When I sat down to describe this month’s book, I had to start with Pavana Reddy’s specially composed poem for Bazaar. This verse opens our special section, titled ‘Unfold The Future’, and in these pages we explore the relationship between fashion and feminism. From clothing to imagery, to attitude and action, it is clear that you can no longer have one without the other. And while some consider it subversion, I think it is the new normal. Today, nothing else would fit as well. The body of work we carry comes from a place of strength, independence, and simplicity. Colourful, bold, loud, brash, and unapologetically funny. Unique. Diverse. Fierce. Feminine. Mindful. Fashion—or what you wear—is a non-verbal way of letting people know who you are. It is effortless. And it has…

language of flowers

Flowers make for a beautiful gift-if not one that's long-lasting. But New York-based brand, Studio De Fleurs, which is now in India, is changing that They've introduced 'infinity flowers' that last for an entire year, without needing to be watered. Preserved ' using eco-friendly solutions, they retain their freshness and fragrance. As of now, they offer only roses but are soon planning to add lilies and sunflowers to their range, too. The flowers are beautifully packaged in acrylic boxes, making them a worthy addition to home decor. Choose from Le Fleur, a single rose with a golden stem, Wonder Rose Dome, which comes in a glass dome with a few fallen petals, or Grande Verre, a set of nine coloured roses in an acrylic box. Apart from the standard shades…

FOOD FOR THOUGHT A hunger for creativity and innovation is what drives Cheung to create new plates for his Mumbai restaurant, Bastian. “I set aside an hour a day to do my homework. That’s the time I spend researching, staying up to date on global trends and fellow chefs that I admire, and reading blogs and papers. The easiest way to do all of it is on my phone.” PLATE TO PRINT Cheung is enthusiastic about putting together a book someday, to share extensive records of the food he creates. “The only way to document is to take a picture of the mise en place, plating, and ingredients. I have hundreds of recipes, and they all go into the Evernote app, it’s the only way to keep track.” A BALANCED DIET The kitchen can get…
