hfm welcome

This issue we’re celebrating the magazine’s 5th birthday in new season style, with the biggest looks for autumn. Showcasing all of the best trends, from fanciful feathers to daylight disco, it means you can shop smart as well as looking at the brands who are giving back. Readers have told us they’d rather spend more on something that is sustainable and socially responsible so, with plenty of them “doing good”, why settle for less? We’re also thinking more consciously when it comes to beauty. Hear about why the snazzy new refillable products are becoming a viable eco option, plus depolluting shampoos and eco scent – because going green doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice style and luxury.…

THE TRENDS GUIDE From Koché’s fanciful feathers to the return of punk, courtesy of Prada, the trends offered plenty of characterful confidence. We distil the nine moods that define the new season. MODERN FEMININITY With brands like Batsheva and Cecilie Bahnsen gaining momentum, and a Laura Ashley revival, ultra-feminine pieces have never been so relevant. Brock Collection’s delicate bustier dresses, waist-defining peplums and trumpet skirts epitomise the trend, bringing raw romance to daywear in a perfect way. DAYLIGHT DISCO Just like the ubiquitous ‘dressy top,’ dressed-down daytime sequins are a thing. Think show-girl crystal trims on a crisp white shirt, jazzy sequinned trews paired with a prim blouse and glitzy cocktail dresses layered over denim. Take your cue from Halpern, Christopher Kane, Ermanno Scervino and Paco Rabanne. GENDER FLUID The line between gendered dressing continues to blur on…

your ultimate accessory edit

STANDOUT SNAKESKIN Fashion’s stance on the no-fur policy extends to exotic skins, too, so expect an array of mock snakeskin to slither its way onto accessories. From Erdem to Givenchy to the high street, it’s the hero print that’ll bring your wardrobe into the new season with a bang… time to take a back seat leopard print. SHINE BRIGHT There’s nothing like a bit of OTT sparkle to kick-start your AW19 look. But there’s no need to save the shimmer and sparkle for Christmas, as crystals splashed over heels or mega-watt necklaces add instant wow factor to even the most mundane of looks. We’ll be wearing our crystal mules to do the weekly shop… CHAIN REACTION From Marni’s girlymeets-tough necklaces to Armani’s arm candy, chains went supersize this season. Layer up oversized necklaces à la…

Model Nadine Leopold lives a stone’s throw from the parks (Green, Hyde, St James) in a prestigious apartment block in Mayfair – arguably London’s most salubrious postcode. Once we’ve navigated the revolving doors and concierge we’re offered a seat in the calm and stately foyer. Soon Nadine bounces out of the lift to join us; it’s a week since her HFM cover shoot. “I can’t wait to see the magazine,” she nods sincerely when we shake hands. She’s impossibly tall, with an insanely clear complexion, permanent smile and cute freckles on her nose. She sits down, manoeuvring her long legs onto the couch into a side cross, and we congratulate her on her top. “It’s just Zara,” she announces (but it looks designer), she’s also wearing Frame jeans and animal-print mules by Proenza…
