Since the pandemic hit earlier this year, I’ve avoided talking about it in this letter to you. Many of you told us that while you’re flicking through House Beautiful you want to feel inspired, and able to temporarily escape what’s going on in the world around us. However, lockdown has shaken up the way we use our homes and the way we think about them. The property market – outside London, at least – is incredibly buoyant, with estate agents claiming that houses are now selling as fast as they did in 2006, when prices rose to record highs.
