I have seldom in my life been as knee-deep in paint swatches, wall measurements, light catalogues, furniture websites, showrooms and mood boards as this year. And especially while there’s been nothing on the go at my own home. First it was my friend who always swore she would never buy anything that needed any work, but then fell in love with a mountain plot with the most gorgeous sea views. The only things missing were a builder and a heap of ideas. And so I helped long distance with the building, sourcing, choosing colours and giving advice until eventually I could go and visit a brand-new hillside house that at the same time felt very familiar.
