lessons from wcha 2015

The Second World Congress of Healthy Aging 2015 (www.wcha2015.com) took place in Sandton recently. Over the past 18 months, I have been part of a Scientific Committee of a small group of passionate health professionals working with Scan Display, a leading exhibition company responsible for the event. 1 EXERCISE MTN-QHUBEKA MAKES TOUR DE FRANCE HISTORY The first African team to take part in the Tour de France, MTN-Qhubeka, made history when one of its riders, Eritrea’s Daniel Teklehaimanot, became the first African participant of colour to claim the “King of The Mountain” jersey. The “King of The Mountain” title is given to the best climber in the cycling road race. This was followed by being the first African team to win a stage, a goal they achieved on Mandela Day. The team placed 5th overall. Africa’s participation in the 3 344km July race through the Netherlands, Belgium and France is the realisation of a long-held dream by South African cycling hero Douglas Ryder, who is the team principal.
