hello!

When does Christmas start for you? I used to roll my eyes at all the festive stuff stacking up in the supermarkets so early, but now I’m a mum, I’m all for it. Because when you’ve got kids, the run-up is just as much fun as the big day. Going anywhere becomes a magical tour of Christmas lights, and all that talk of Santa makes even us grown-ups start to believe he’s real. But what’s got me really excited this year is a chat with our favourite mum of the moment, Giovanna Fletcher. Now she is Christmas-crazy, and if you do half of the things she’s got planned for her two little ones, Buddy and Buzz, you’ll have a ball (Have The Best Family Christmas, Ever!, page 88). So bring it…

breastfeeding heroes

When you’re breastfeeding away from home, finding places where you know you’ll get a warm welcome makes all the difference. If you know of a local gem, give other mums a heads-up by nominating it in Lansinoh’s Feed With Confidence award scheme. Make your nomination for a café, library, cinema or anywhere else that’s breastfeeding-friendly at lansinoh.co.uk/feed-with-confidence before 31 December. • By law, you can breastfeed in any public place, including leisure centres, libraries, parks, on public transport and in petrol stations.…

take it from me…

‘I wasn’t sure if I wanted to breastfeed before Fifi was born, but once I started reading about the benefits, I was keen to give it a try. It wasn’t easy to start with, as she was born with tongue tie, but I persevered. I’m still breastfeeding Fifi now at three as I find it the most natural thing in the world. I get messages from other mums on Instagram saying things like, “my mother-in-law told me to stop breastfeeding after a certain age, because it’s weird, but you inspire me to carry on”. It’s such a personal decision and I wouldn’t dream of criticising anyone who decided it wasn’t for them. I think mums should be supportive of each other, not judgemental, and I will always do what I…

get clear skin

‘Acne is a major issue during pregnancy,’ says Melissa, ‘but you can clear those pimples while you’re expecting. You’ll need to avoid products containing salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide and vitamin A. Instead, look for acne-fighting products containing sulphur, lactic acid or tea tree oil, as these are safe during pregnancy and can help clear pores and tackle spots. Regularly changing your pillowcase and rubbing your mobile phone with an alcohol swab will help you avoid getting oils and bacteria on your face, too.’ • For more info, visit melissakleinman.com…
