hello!

Is it just me, or did life just get a little bit easier? The sun is shining and we can nip out into the garden without it feeling like a major operation. Everyone’s smiling a bit more and sniffling a bit less. And I can let the kids eat as many strawberries as they want without taking out a second mortgage. And all that means I’ve had a teeny little bit of space in my day to think about me, and how I’m feeling right now. And we mums aren’t very good at doing that, are we? At looking at how being a mum works for us as well as our gorgeous little bundles. We all know it’s not half as simple as ‘happy mum, happy baby’, but surely if our…

Smiles all round Having a baby is one of life’s greatest adventures, but research has confirmed that being a parent improves it overall. Aiming to discover what it means to ‘live well’, the Sainsbury’s Living Well Index tested over 8,000 people across the UK and found that the average person scores 62.2 out of 100. But parents with children under five scored an average of 3.3 points higher than non-parents, thanks to the sense of worth gained by having a child. I’ll update on all things pregnancy-related next month! Yes, I’m currently pregnant with our third child and we’re all super-excited to be welcoming our new arrival later in the year. Having more children was always an idea Tom and I toyed over, and a subject we talked about a lot. I do sometimes wonder if those conversations were prompted by the inquisitive nature of others – it seems as soon as you have one child everyone wants to know when you’re having the next! I always knew I wanted more mini Fletchers at some point, but Tom needed a little more encouraging. For us, the big question was when. When would be the right time to expand our brood when we’re both already so busy? To start with, I thought the sooner,…

over to you...

Our favourite! Happy ending I never thought I’d be lucky enough to be able to have fun with all the activities I read about in Mother&Baby. After suffering for years with endometriosis and having a partial bowel resection, I was told I could never have children. When we started IVF in September 2016, we were given such a low chance of success that I nearly gave up. I am so pleased we didn’t, as we now we have our seven-month-old bundle of joy, Rowan. Thank goodness we kept trying! I’ve been enjoying reading M&B since having George, 13 months ago. I’ve found the articles so useful…

LAURA STAINES, VIA EMAIL This is me with my wonderful daughter Clementine, six months, when we were getting ready to go shopping. As you can see, we’re both very excited! Carly Powell, London My daughter, Mollie, three weeks, already loves to pose for a selfie! FAYE WINNING, ESSEX This is 11-week-old Siena Charlotte, one of my twin daughters – her sister was asleep.
