fortnightly thought hello, people peeps!

AFTER two decades of glitz and glamour, the annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion show has sadly come to an end! Can you believe it? That event has provided so many unforgettable moments, I can’t imagine it being no more. Remember that mindblowingly expensive red-hot fantasy bra Gisele Bündchen wore in 2000? That was supposedly worth $15-milion! Then in 2011 Alessandra Ambrosio made a stir by sporting the heaviest set of Angel wings ever – a reported 27kg! Of course, that year she made a stir for something else, too. She and Lily Aldridge had a secret of their own: they were both two months pregnant! Turn to pages 14 and 15 for more standout moments from the show. But while the news about VS is unfortunate, it’s really nothing in comparison to…

a new reign begins

ANEW knockout flies the South African flag high globally. Zozibini Tunzi, a 25-year-old from Tsolo in the Eastern Cape, was crowned Miss South Africa 2019 on August 9 at the Sun Arena in Pretoria during the country’s premier beauty pageant. She takes over from Tamaryn Green. Not only will her name be written in the history books, but she’ll also walk away with R1-million in cash as well as a further R2-million worth of sponsorships and prizes, including the use of a luxury Sandton apartment and a Mercedes-Benz cabriolet for a year.…

a goddess uncovered

WE would have been short a marvellous discovery if the municipal council of Aleksandrovac in Serbia had abandoned the idea to install an irrigation system at the Vitkovacko polje. The area is a known archaeological goldmine, but the last significant find there was in 1969. Yes, 50 years have passed since four Neolithic figurines, including the famous ‘Lady of Aleksandrovac’, were discovered. The installation will make for bountiful crop yields, but it ended up producing another sort of valuable altogether. The scientific community rejoiced once more when Sanja Crnobrnja Krasic and her team unearthed something spectacular. A mere 50 metres away from the dig site that coughed up treasures all those years ago, the team of archaeologists found a fragmented statuette. Like many of the other finds, it, too, seemed to…

slain senselessly

ON August 3 Meghan Cremer went missing from her home at the Vaderlandsche Rietvlei Stables in Philippi; her body was found the following Thursday in a sand mine. Great intrigue and confusion surrounds the case of the 30-year-old, who worked a regular job at the Woodstock Bakery, half-an-hour’s drive from her residence, and had a great interest in all things equestrian, excelling as a show jumper. While one of the suspects to be apprehended was known to both Meghan and staff of the Stables, at the time of going to print no discernible motive has been identified. The man in question is 27-year-old Jeremy Sias. It’s not known whether they were merely acquaintances or if they’d been friendly at some stage, but he did come from the adjoining farm. Sias, along with…

1 KELLY ROWLAND has shot down rumours of a Destiny’s Child reunion tour. The trio last hit the stage together at the Coachella festival in 2018 and reports of a more long-term reunion have been swirling ever since. It was rumoured Kelly, Beyoncé and Michelle Williams would be regrouping to record new music and tour, but Rowland insists no one has spoken to her about it. 2 GEENA DAVIS has confessed she ‘lied’ to chat show legend Oprah Winfrey by claiming she was married to her now-estranged partner Reza Jarrahy. The surgeon filed for divorce back in 2017, but the Thelma & Louise star has sought to dismiss his divorce petition, claiming the pair never obtained a marriage licence, despite holding a ‘marriage’ ceremony back in 2001. 3 GIGI HADID has vowed…
