WHEN HER ELDEST son, Noah, was in kindergarten, Kim Minckler signed him up to be a Cub Scout, thinking it would be a good activity for him and her husband, Chad, to do together. She didn’t know much about Scouting except that it involved the outdoors, something that was important to her.
