god’s smuggler testifies about mirales

At the age of 92, Andrew van der Bijl, an ordinary Dutch man with a humble background, can look back on a long road of adventures as God’s smuggler. Brother Andrew, as he is commonly known, started distributing Bibles to persecuted Christians behind the Iron Curtain in 1955. Today, Open Doors continues this pioneering work in more than 60 countries. Travelling as an ambassador for Jesus When he visited Poland, Brother Andrew’s eyes opened for the great need of Bibles and encouragement under believers in Eastern Europe. He said yes for God’s plan for his life and started supporting persecuted Christians when the Cold War was at its worst. Later his ministry also took him to the Middle East, Far East, and Africa. Brother Andrew is one of only a few Western leaders…

how to abide in the lord in difficult times

“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.”– John 15:4 In difficult times like these with global uncertainty and a nation-wide lockdown, I like to pray and write down all the things that I am so grateful for. Firstly, I like to remember the person who led me to the Lord. The counsellor who, so carefully, explained the Gospel to me one afternoon in 1978. I had just responded to an altar call after watching an outreach movie called A Thief in the Night. This counsellor’s gentle and welcome approach and guidance in leading me in a prayer of repentance changed my life forever. I then think of the many…

salvation pr ayer

Jesus, I believe that You died on the Cross for me. There You were wounded for my transgressions, You were bruised for my iniquities; and the punishment for my peace was upon You. I have been like a lost sheep, I have turned to my own way, but I believe that God laid my iniquity upon You. You died for me. Then You rose from the dead, You ascended into Heaven, and are now seated on Your throne as Lord of all. Jesus, forgive me. I now turn away from my sin and put my trust in You. Fill me with Your Spirit, cleanse me, and take me as Your own. AMEN…

Yesu, ndiyakholwa ukuba wandifela emnqamlezweni. Apho walinyazwa ngenxa yeziphoso zam, Walinyazwa ngenxa yobubi bam, ubetho loxolelo lwam lube phezu kwakho. Ndifana nemvu elahlekileyo, ndiye ndalahleka, kodwa ndiyakholwa ukuba uThixo walibeka phezu kwakho ityala lam. Wandifela, Waye wavuka ekufeni, wanyukela emazulwini, kungoku nje uhleli esihlalweni sakho njengeNkosi yako konke. Yesu, ndixolele. Ngoku ndiyaguquka esonweni sam, ndibeka ithemba lam kuwe. Ndigcwalise ngoMoya wakho, ndihlambe, undamkele njengomntwana wakho. AMEN “BECAUSE YOUR LOVING KINDNESS IS BETTER THAN LIFE, MY LIPS SHALL PRAISE YOU. THUS I WILL BLESS YOU WHILE I LIVE; I WILL LIFT UP MY HANDS IN YOUR NAME.”PSALM 63:3-4, NKJV…

is there a god?

Sometime around the mid-1st Century, Paul the apostle found himself preaching to some of the greatest philosophers in history in the Greek city of Athens. This was a somewhat unusual event because Paul normally began his missionary work at the Jewish hubs of a city, like the synagogues. Seeking out a Jewish audience would give Paul some common ground with his hearers, because he could preach about how Jesus was the fulfilment of what the Jewish Scriptures had predicted. But now here was Paul standing before an entirely pagan audience, knowing that they had absolutely no context to understand the claims of the Gospel. Or did they? Man knows there is a God Is there some belief or religious experience that every person actually does share? The Bible says that there is.…

introduction to basic christianity

The dictionary defines a religion as “the service and worship of God or the supernatural.” So, Christianity is obviously a religion. But what makes it different to any other religion? If the only thing separating it from other religions is a set of unique rituals, or a collection of unique buildings where Christians meet, then Christianity really does not have anything to commend itself at all. What then makes Christianity what it is, and why has it changed the lives of billions of people throughout the centuries? The answer is that Christianity is defined by its unique message. This message is called “the Gospel.” It is the good news that although all people are guilty of sinning and stand justly condemned, God – in His great love – became a…
