sunday update

A MAN found guilty of killing a two-year-old child has been sentenced to life imprisonment. The Polokwane High Court sentenced Kamogelo Collins Mashabela (19) to life imprisonment and an additional 20 years imprisonment for murder, attempted murder and arson. The crime took place on 5 March, 2019 when Mashabela had an argument with the toddler’s mum. During the fight, the woman managed to flee with only minor injuries. But the accused set the woman’s house, with the baby inside, on fire. The toddler was rescued, but later died due to the injuries sustained in the fire. PRESIDENT Cyril Ramaphosa is not happy with the decision of South African Airways’ business rescue practitioners to cancel certain routes, eNCA reported on Friday. Ramaphosa spoke on his way to Ethiopia to attend a meeting of the African…

work ancestors with at jz!

THEY say karma is a “five-letter word”. And the chickens have come home to roost . . . FOR FORMER PRESIDENT JACOB ZUMA’S 25-YEAR-OLD BABY MAMA! This was the sentiment of Nonkanyiso Conco’s father, who said she was being punished by the family’s ancestors. According to Fartescue Conco, his daughter was getting a spiritual spanking for having abandoned the family for a lavish lifestyle with Zuma. He said Nonkanyiso’s decision to live the high life in the leafy suburbs of Durban angered her ancestors. Fartescue was responding to Nonkanyiso’s complaint on social media about Zuma (77). She claimed Msholozi wasn’t there for their two-year-old son. Said Fartescue to the SunTeam during a visit to his home in KwaPata, Pietermaritzburg, this week: “Who chased Nonkanyiso away from home? “She has blocked my number and that of everyone of her family…

sick note that caused all baba’s troubles

A MUCH-CRITICISED sick note submitted to the KwaZulu-Natal High Court on behalf of former president Jacob Zuma is at the centre of a stayed arrest warrant issued against him. But who is the doctor who signed off on the note? Judge Dhaya Pillay said Zuma’s sick note, presented to the KwaZulu-Natal High Court in Pietermaritzburg on Tuesday during his corruption trial, was not enough evidence to show why he couldn’t attend his trial. Pillay said while Zuma might indeed be sick, there was insufficient evidence before her to prove this. Despite showing the note’s issuing by One Military Hospital and a Dr ZK Motene, Pillay raised a few concerns. The document didn’t mention Zuma’s condition, only stating “Medical condition” in a block next to the term “Laymans diagnosis (with consent of the patient)”, something Pillay…

nge zikhona vur vai uza !

FORMER Generations actress Zikhona Sodlaka has been spanked by the long arm of the law. This as she found herself in police holding cells for allegedly playing cat and mouse games with her landlord over unpaid rent. Best-known as Prisca in the popular SABC1 soapie, the 34-year-old was accused of assaulting the property owner, identified as Ms B J MacDonald in November. The incident allegedly took place at Zikhona’s apartment in Northcliff, Jozi, after which MacDonald opened a case at the Sophiatown Police Station. According to a police statement seen by the SunTeam, tempers flared when the actress’s mastandi came to collect her dues. And instead of paying up, the soapie star, who’s also featured in e.tv soapie Rhythm City, allegedly grabbed and pushed MacDonald out of the apartment. Read the statement, in part: “On 2019/11/11…

‘not our staff & not our offices’

A VIDEO of a couple having sex in one of the offices in Sandton, north of Joburg, created a social media storm this past week. The couple, a completely naked man and a woman in a yellow dress pulled all the way to her stomach, are seen having sex on a desk in an office in a high-rise building. Independent investment bank Fieldstone has distanced itself from the video that got Mzansi all excited. In a statement, the company said the couple in the video are not affiliated to them and are not their employees. According to their statement, the company in whose premises the night-time romping happened, managed to identify the pair and disciplinary steps were taken against them. Reads the statement, in part: “Categorically, these are not Fieldstone’s offices and the people in…

trap king back & keeping his head in the game

THE past few years have been a whirlwind for trap rapper Emtee. Last year, the Roll Up hitmaker (real name Mthembeni Ndevu) was involved in a legal wrangle with his former record label Ambitiouz Entertainment. He later admitted to being dependent on over-the-counter pain relief medication, codeine. But the star from the sleepy town of Matatiele, in the Eastern Cape, seems to have cleared his medicine cabinet and released new music. Last week, Emtee released his first singles for the year, titled Wave and Brand New Day, since going it alone. “It feels good to be back in the game. The positive response encourages me to make more music and stay away from controversy,” he said. Emtee said he wanted his music to be mellow. “The new sound is refreshing and peaceful. All my…
