DAVINA MOTION This month, Tatler’s fashion features assistant, Davina Motion, reports on the year’s fastest-growing accessory trend, the Alice band. ‘I really like the fact that the bigger and more ornate, the better,’ she says. ‘And the fashion crowd are really embracing this sophisticated-yet-playful style.’ But if she could be a dazzling accessory herself, what would she be? ‘A pair of sunglasses! I’d love to travel the world concealing the puffy eyes of those who have danced through the night.’ GRACE GILFEATHER Stylist Grace Gilfeather has dressed everyone from Hollywood actor Joaquin Phoenix to Tony Blair. This month, she adds another politician to her list: London mayoral hopeful Rory Stewart. ‘I’ve styled many politicians during my 12 years at GQ – Boris Johnson included,’ says Grace. ‘But none were quite so charming. armani’s army

Armani owned the Fashion Awards and there was only one after-party to be seen at – the one at Giorgio’s (Harry’s Bar, renamed for one night only), which was arguably a hotter ticket than the actual awards. London’s style set swooped in hungry from the ceremony to toast Mr Armani and his Outstanding Achievement award. Lily James, Mary Charteris and Andrew Scott stomped their feet to an Elvis tribute act, as Rita Ora and Rafferty Law snuggled up by the bar. DJ Graziano della Nebbia had guests dancing under the bauble-bedecked ceiling until after 3am. Che grande bellezza.…

world class

Global glamour was the order of the day at Tatler’s Travel Awards 2020. At an intimate soiree in Claridge’s art-deco ballroom, guests – including Skye McAlpine, over from Venice, and Nicolas Niarchos, en route to Niger – gathered for Pink Pepper Gin martinis and truffle pizza before toasting the big-hitters of travel, from hotel maven Marie-Louise Scio (of Il Pellicano fame) to the forever fabulous Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc.…

the belles of the ball

Haute couture. Waltzes. Selfies. Twenty young debutantes from the new and old elite. And £7.6 million worth of jewellery. It could only be Le Bal. The 2019 iteration of the invitation-only event was held at the Shangri-La in Paris, where debs – including Kayla Rockefeller, the Duke and Duchess of Castro’s daughter Maria Carolina, and Antonia Fraser’s granddaughter Phoebe – officially joined the ranks of high society, in a sea of pink roses and fin-de-siècle splendour. iced gems

You wouldn’t have guessed it was a dreary winter’s evening when society style duo Emily Horner and Olivia Buckingham launched their RockChic jewellery collection for Pragnell. The Mount Street showroom was positively glittering with artists, models and blue bloods swooning over the diamonds. The champagne flowed as Ella Windsor arrived with her husband, Tom Kingston, the latest addition to the Royal Family, and the artist Philip Colbert and actor Ade chatted about, of all things, the East End. Meanwhile, Lohralee Astor was spotted eyeing up a flawless five-carat masterpiece. Diamonds really are a girl’s best friend.…

glam dunk!

A Pegasus ice sculpture dominated at fashion designer Jade Holland Cooper’s 33rd birthday at her and her husband Julian Dunkerton’s Cotswolds mansion. In keeping with the theme – ‘Glitter, Sparkle, Feathers and Fantasy’ – the 120 guests, including Emma Weymouth and Kitty Spencer, were greeted by a plumed maître d’. Countryfile presenter Adam Henson talked all things rural between visits to the glitter station. Hollywood star Woody Harrelson, playing table football, looked surprisingly at home, and Jade was serenaded by drummers as she cut her eight-tier cake – an indulgent survivors’ breakfast.…
