In my line of work, journalism, they say you never forget your first big interview. Finding the "hard news" too murky and depressing, I realised early in my career that I wanted to tell stories about Black women. I wanted to tell relatable stories about our struggles and triumphs, without doubt or insecurities. I wanted to tell stories that I had witnessed and could relate to, about women who could be my mothers, aunts and sisters, with heart and authenticity. And so I started my lifestyle journalism with magazines. One of my first big interviews was with the incomparable Sophie Ndaba.
