We established the awards back in 1981. The program has had real impact, to the great benefit of all wine lovers. This year, nearly 3,800 restaurants in the U.S. and abroad have earned recognition for their commitment to wine, in one of three tiers of achievement: the Award of Excellence; the more selective Best of Award of Excellence; and our pinnacle, the Grand Award. While our focus is on the wine lists, we know that restaurant wine programs involve more than bottles in a cellar.
