I’ve always been a risk-taker, so Mum wasn’t surprised when I left my midwifery degree because it wasn’t working for me. Mum was a Special Educational Needs teacher, but was looking for a new path. LUCKY GENES In a break from the TV show I’m currently recording in Manchester, I spent two nights, 50 miles away, at my mum’s flat. June doesn’t live there now, she’s in a nursing home a couple miles down the coast. Back in September 2020, after a series of unfortunate events, we reluctantly realised that Ma was no longer capable of living on her own and she needed residential care.
