Catherine Chowler, 51, and her husband, David, 54, moved to their extended five-bedroom Sixties terrace in Oxted, Surrey, in July 1999. It was bought to be renovated and then sold, but in fact turned out to be a long-term project for their ever-increasing family, now consisting of children, Harvey, 22, Libby, 20, Max, 16, and Ned, who is 13.
