Unsurprisingly two other recalcitrant autocrats from Russia and Iran, both big carbon polluters, also failed to show up. South Africa yet again disgraced itself by aligning itself with the worst offenders.
The world’s biggest CO2 emitters are China at 14.1 billion tons, the US at 5.7 billion, India at 3.4 billion, the EU at 3.3 billion, Indonesia at 1.8 billion, Russia at 1.6 billion and Brazil at 1.5 billion. Iran is the 9th worst emitter.
