THE so-called Glebelands 8, who killed or conspired to kill hostel residents to gain control of the hostel, were sentenced to various terms of imprisonment in the Pietermaritzburg High Court yesterday.
The conclusion of the matter came after the men were convicted of several charges including murder, attempted murder and unlawful possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition in October.
During the period of the offences between 2014 and 2016, nine people were killed: Siniko Ncayiyane, Thulani Kati, Sipho Ndovela, Themba Pina, Nkosinathi Ndovela, William Mthembu, Thokozani Machi, Mzwandile Gawuza and Lucky Mtwa.
Seven others were injured, resulting in the attempted murder charges.
