BEEF PRICES MIXED
International: New Zealand steers traded 1,43% lower at NZ$4,82/kg and cows were 2,41% lower at NZ$3,24/kg. US prices were mostly higher: topside was 4,44% higher at US$200,89/cwt, rump was 0,61% higher at US$273,81/cwt, strip loin was 2,30% lower at US$420,73/cwt, chuck traded 0,88% higher at US$208,66/cwt, and brisket traded 3,10% higher at US$203,38/cwt. The carcass price was 0,49% higher at US$249,24/cwt. Ongoing supply shortages in Australia and low slaughterings in New Zealand have resulted in stronger demand from some northern Asian markets.
Domestic: Local prices were steady. Class A was 0,55% higher at R38,21/kg and Class C was 0,09% lower at R32/kg. The weaner price was 0,20% higher at R20,49/kg. The hide price was 0,46% lower at R15,23/kg. About 0,42% fewer cattle were slaughtered year-on-year.
