BEEF PRICES MIXED
International: New Zealand steers and cows traded flat at NZ$5,38/kg and NZ$3,91/kg respectively. US beef prices were mostly higher: topside traded 4,74% higher at US$190,33/cwt, rump was 1,96% higher at US$225,05/cwt, strip loin was 0,2% lower at US$424,71/cwt, chuck traded 0,14% lower at US$195,61/cwt, and brisket traded 6,61% higher at US$219,55/cwt. The carcass price was 1,98% higher at US$246,63/cwt. US beef production is increasing at a rate not seen since 2010, and due to lower export volumes, the US beef market could be swamped.
Domestic: Local prices strengthened, despite a stronger rand. Class A was 1,12% higher at R37,97/kg and Class C was 0,83% higher at R33,41/kg. The weaner price was 1,1% higher at R21,18/kg, and the hide price was 2,83% higher at R15,62/kg.
