Laura-Jayne snoops behind the big soap headlines… EASTENDERS Tributes have been paid to one of EastEnders’ original stars, Bill Treacher, who starred as Arthur Fowler during the Walford soap’s first decade.
The actor, who passed away last week, was in the show’s first-ever scene, which saw Arthur breaking into the flat of neighbour Reg Cox to find him dead. The Fowler family – Arthur, wife Pauline, children Michelle and Mark, and mum-in-law Lou – were central to the show’s early years, and stars from those days shared their fond memories of Bill.
“Bill really was the life and soul of the set,” said Letitia Dean (Sharon). “As an actor, he was meticulous and went to great lengths to portray Arthur, from the smallest scenes to more heartbreaking stories.”
