Tip: I was reading through The Best of Tips & Tech Vol. 2 and saw the tip on photoreducing model boxes and other items. Here’s a related tip:
I save magazines, auto store flyers, newspaper advertising inserts, and even cereal and soda boxes for that reason. Sometimes you can take small illustrations from those sources to use as scale pictures and details.
I found a tiny map in a travel magazine, cut it out, folded it, and put in on the seat of a street rod.
I’ve also taken small pictures and nautical maps from a Good Housekeeping magazine to detail the inside of a model shrimp boat I built.
