Ruple Succeeds Bose For Case According to a Case news release, Case has signed an agreement with BLADE Magazine Cutlery Hall-Of-Fame® member Bill Ruple to “collaboratively design and produce a series of special knife offerings.” The objective is to offer brand new patterns and bring back others of historical significance that Case has rarely, if ever, made. Bill credits Cutlery Hall-Of-Famer Tony Bose for inspiring him to make knives. “I first met Tony in the early ’90s at the Guild Show in Orlando, and when I saw the quality of knives he had laid out on his table, I was awestruck,” he noted. “I knew I wanted to be as good as him.” Tony went on to work with Case on knife collaborations for over 20 years before passing away…

ABS master smith Harvey Dean configured his coffin-handle dagger to fit the theme of the restored 150th anniversary Colt M1873 Peacemaker and Winchester 1873 lever-action-rifle from Turnbull Restoration Co. The 9-inch blade is Harvey’s Thunderstorm-pattern damascus forged in an accordion W’s technique. Blade material is 1075 carbon and 15N20 nickel-alloy steels. The walrus ivory handle is the same material as that of the pistol grip. The antique-inspired, cloud-shaped guard consists of Harvey’s Explosion-pattern mosaic damascus. One of many things of note about the cover guns is that the original Winchester 1873 lever-action rifle was also chambered in .44-40 Winchester Center Fire (WCF), .38-40 WCF and .32-20 WCF, all of which were popular handgun chamberings—including for the Peacemaker—allowing users to carry just one type of ammo for multiple guns. Ilya Alekseyev Ilya won Best Sword at BLADE Show 2021 for The Heretic with a blade that had the judges agog, consisting of an elaborate mosaic damascus pattern of panels, twisted bars and a wrapped edge. Ilya said the overall technique was borrowed from 17th-century damascus barrel makers.
