MEAT PRICES MIXED
International: New Zealand steers and cows traded higher at NZ$547/head and NZ$404/head respectively. US beef traded mostly lower: topside traded lower at US$283,45/cwt, rump was lower at US$404,55/cwt, strip loin fell US$582,01/cwt, chuck was slightly lower at US$299,95/cwt, and brisket traded lower at US$257,12/cwt. The carcass price was US$343,22/cwt.
Domestic: Local prices were mixed. The various meat prices were as follows: Class A prices decreased 4,58% to R32,27/kg, Class C increased 6,14% to R28,70/kg, and contract prices fell 2,51% to R33/kg. The Red Meat Abattoir Association reported a decrease in slaughtering numbers. Weaner prices were slightly higher at R20,34/kg.
