People of colour, particularly black people, were brutalised, dehumanised and discriminated against.
They had inferior education, health care, municipal services and so on. They could also not go into what were known as “white areas”, get certain jobs, stay in hotels and eat in restaurants because of their skin colour.
Why is there now so much crime, corruption, racism, unemployment and a breakdown in moral values?
It is because of, you guessed it, the legacy of apartheid.
