A tip-off from the community has led to the arrest of a suspect, 47, found with fraudulent documents in Hillbrow, Johannesburg.
Gauteng Police Commissioner, Lieutenant-General Elias Mawela welcomed the co-operation of residents in helping police to clamp down on crime. “I’d like to thank the community who continue to be the eyes and ears of the police. Working together we can bring crime to minimal.”
The tip-off led police to a man producing fraudulent ID documents and passports from a flat in Hillbrow.
A search of the premises resulted in police uncovering scores of South African IDs, birth certificates, passports, Covid-19 certificates, work permits, police firearm licence competency certificates and Sassa cards.
