THE family hatchback sector has been under massive pressure from more fashionable SUVs, with their rugged styling and higher driving position being popular with buyers.
But Peugeot’s 308 product head, Vera Charpentier, told Auto Express that Peugeot still sees a future for the hatch body style, with buyers proving to be wedded to the two-box shape. “They have high loyalty, and a premium and battery electric vehicle predominance,” she told Auto Express.
The 308 sits in the top five in its class for sales across Europe, with the dominant Volkswagen Golf topping the chart and the Skoda Octavia, Toyota Corolla and BMW 1 Series separated by a few thousand units alongside the 308.
