I ENJOYED a most pleasant interview with Fine Music Radio last week. The presenter, Rodney Trudgeon, revealed that he too enjoys the atmosphere of harbours and ships.
Durban harbour was his stamping ground in his kortbroek years, and, since then, he has undertaken several interesting voyages aboard ships, including QE2 and St Helena.
When invited to the studio for the recording, I was asked to choose five pieces of music that would provide relief from my droning on – my words, not theirs – about my own happy days of dockland wanderings, tug rides and mail ship departures.
