NEAR MISSES Pathologic 3 PC, PS5, Xbox Series While Ice-Pick Lodge sent a build of Pathologic 3 in mid-December, it wasn’t complete – the final part of the game was still being polished and held back until nearer the release date. That’s given us time to get to grips with most of this third entry in the foreboding and thought-provoking series, at least, and we’ve been enthralled so far. It seems to be in better technical shape than its predecessor, and more accessible, without sacrificing thematic density. During Tim Oxton’s Silkbulb Test you are shown a series of disturbing images and asked to make gut-instinct deductions about their nature. Is this picture of a man with giant bulging eyes, smiling at you with all his teeth bared, a picture of a ‘friend’? The photographs are real; the twisted details are added by Oxton.
