BEEF PRICES MIXED
International: New Zealand steers and cows traded flat at NZ$503/head and NZ$375/head respectively. US prices were mostly lower: topside was 11,27% higher at US$209,33/cwt, rump was 5,54% lower at US$255,13/cwt, strip loin was 2,84% lower at US$552,69/cwt, chuck was 1,90% lower at US$189,60/cwt, and brisket was 1,95% higher at US$301,01/cwt. The carcass price was 0,78% lower at US$298,45/cwt. China’s slowing economy is affecting general beef consumption, but there is still demand for quality beef products from higher- and middle-income earners.
Domestic: Local prices increased. Class A prices were 0,58% higher at R38/kg and Class C was 1,83% higher at R29/kg. The weaner price was 2,98% lower at R19,19/kg. The hide price was 0,46% higher at R15,32/kg.
