Until recently, building, never mind owning, a soccer ball– toting, Gatorade-smelling, soulsucking minivan never entered my mind. Crew cab trucks and camper shells exist so we have room for all a minivan can tote, including my ego. Full-size vans are OK, but those tiny, power-door-that-closes-onmy- leg vans aren't. My wife and I have deals we’ve struck with each other: My beer gut can’t get larger, she can’t park in the garage, and we will never get a minivan.
