MEAT PRICES MIXED
International: New Zealand steers traded flat at NZ$583/head and cows traded slightly lower at NZ$379/head. US beef traded mostly lower: topside traded lower at US$245,18/cwt, rump traded lower at US$398,86/cwt, strip loin traded lower at US$536,23/cwt, chuck traded slightly lower at US$271,37/cwt, brisket traded slightly lower at US$244,31/cwt, and the carcass price was US$317,56/cwt. Although international prices seem to have reached their peak, most Asian markets have remained steady or improved.
Domestic: The Red Meat Abattoir Association (RMMA) reported a decline in prices. The forecast prices for the different meat classes were as follows: Class A prices increased 0,43% to R35,10/kg, Class B traded slightly higher at R30,91/kg, and Class C increased 0,40% to R29,88/kg.
