WE WERE SO DISMAYED WHEN writers and stars Charlie and Daisy May Cooper announced that the third of their rural comedy series would be the last, but the more of it we see, the more convinced we are that they’re absolutely right to go out on a high. Prior to the boat accident, Ben was already partially deaf in one ear after contracting meningitis as a baby. The stress of coping with his son’s illness is in fact what drove Phil to start drinking – triggering the breakdown of his marriage to Kathy, and years of unrest between father and son. Melissa joined Neighbours as a teenager in 1991, and was the third actress to play Lucy. I’ve been watching Deadwater Fell on Channel 4 – that’s really gripping. I love the anachronistic timeline with the flashbacks, it’s really compelling. It reminds me a bit of Broadchurch, but maybe that’s because it stars David Tennant! It’s also like a dark version of Maggie Cole, being about village life and everyone living in each other’s pockets. I can relate to that. Schitt’s Creek on Netflix is so good – I’m obsessed with Catherine O’Hara, I think she’s a genius. I love the way she talks in that clipped accent!
