though many of us first saw the fall collections back in February, the clothes are still a revelation to me when I see them in the pages of our September issue. François Nars and Patti Wilson’s bohemian Grey Gardens–inspired “Beautiful Creatures” (p. 242) is an explosion of print, color, and texture with eccentric details—peppermintstick-patterned tights, argyle gloves—that remind me to have fun with fashion and let it express some true personality. The story touches on the maximalism thread that ran through several of the fall shows, while “Fast Track” (p. 272), by Arnaud Pyvka and Enrique Campos, shifts gears (sorry, couldn’t resist!) with rock-androll-meets-racetrack looks such as glossy jumpsuits and sleek leather. “Suit Yourself” (p. 260), by Txema Yeste and Alison Edmond, goes simpler still, showcasing the major menswear trend…

FASHION EDITOR PATTI WILSON @patti_wilson The New Yorker’s main style inspo for “Beautiful Creatures” (p. 242) was Grey Gardens, which she updated and modernized to include “prints, prints, and more prints! Also, a nod to Christopher Kane in the plastic-bag bonnets, which I’m obsessed with.” FAVORITE ACCESSORY: “My guitar necklace.” BEST PART OF THE JOB: “Being on set, making it happen.” PHOTOGRAPHER DAMIEN BLOTTIÈRE For “Color Theory” (p. 282), the photographer explored the intersection of beauty and emotion. “The different faces of [model] Grace Anderson show how to play with fashion and makeup to create a look based on your mood,” says the Parisian. PERSONAL STYLE IN A WORD: Constant. FAVORITE VACATION DESTINATION: Brittany, France. PHOTOGRAPHER MICHELANGELO DI BATTISTA Shooting Sarah Jessica Parker for the first time was a great…
