JOHN GARDENER | Howick On March 24, The Mercury carried a story “Cops’ attitude slammed after child, 6, slain”, and it brought tears of rage to my eyes.
Following the disappearance of two children, aged 6 and 8 years old, the family’s attempts to report the matter to Inanda police were rebuffed with the comment that such matters could only be reported after 24 hours “due to standard procedure”.
The surviving sibling was found, naked and terrified, the following day, by family and supporters, no thanks to the SAPS.
This poor child led her rescuers to the site at which her dead sister’s body was located, suggesting that she might have witnessed her brutal killing.
This is by no means the first time that such disgraceful conduct…
