This is the first laptop that’s made me feel old. Is the X1 Carbon really turning 13? It remains an outstanding 14in ultraportable, but you need to give it a close examination to spot the differences to last year’s model.
But there are differences, all of them positive. First, it’s even lighter at 1kg rather than 1.1kg. Second, it now includes Core Ultra 200V series processors, bringing support for Microsoft’s Copilot+ PC scheme. Third, the SSD has been upgraded from Gen 4 to Gen 5, and that means astonishing 13,588MB/sec sequential writes and 10,403MB/sec reads.
The IPS panel also gains a minor upgrade, pushing up to a stated 500cd/m2 maximum compared to 400cd/m2, and my review sample peaked at 501cd/m2. It’s…
