Murders, murders, murders! It’s one of those strange quirks of soap that, just as the story of Lucy Beale’s slaying in EastEnders (with all its twists and turns) is coming to an end, we’ve now got fingers pointing in all directions over Corrie Callum’s murder – and no doubt an equal amount of twisty-turny stuff to come! His brief love for gangster’s moll Ronnie Clayton died a death after he slept with Kelly Crabtree – the girlfriend of his best mate Lloyd Mullaney! Village vixens Sienna and Grace had better sharpen their talons in preparation for the return of original Hollyoaks bad girl Jude Cunningham! The stars put away their party heels and slipped on some running shoes to take on the Great Manchester Run, which saw more than 35,000 runners run 10km to help raise funds for various charities. Representing the world of soap was former Corrie and EastEnders actress Denise Welch, running for the Teenage Cancer Trust – and she certainly had some fun doing it, even if she did look ready to pack it in at times! TAKING CHARGE Him & Her star Sarah Solemani will appear in series two of Channel 4’s offbeat crime drama No Offence as the team’s new stern taskmaster, Detective Superintendent Lickberg. The question of Lawrence’s sexuality is one Emmerdale fans have been asking for a while, following the revelation that Lawrence was the lover of Edna Birch’s husband Harold. We know that Lawrence was subjected to a horrendous ordeal in prison as a young man, as the homophobic authorities tried to ‘cure’ his sexuality – and now Ronnie has turned up, it’s clear the pair were in love in the past. Some soap characters can really keep you on your toes. EastEnders’ Phil Mitchell or Emmerdale’s Cain Dingle are good examples – no matter how vile or violent their behaviour, they can always be redeemed, and we will always love them.
