“It's 1965, two years after Independence, Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs were top of the music charts with ‘Wooly Bully’, the Vietnam war was raging… and Hillcrest was born. Most of you listening to this won't remember any of it, but I do. I was 17 and in love (again), and finishing GCE A-Levels (not too successfully, I might add, but that's another story).
Update: The Pharaohs were a two-minute wonder, now consigned to oblivion. The Vietnam war has faded into history. Me, I'm still around, I'm 77 and in love… with Jenny. And, I must say, I'm somewhat wonky. Best days past!
